A W-shaped constellation in the Northern Hemisphere between Andromeda and Cepheus.
Cassiopeiae
noun

Gamma Cassiopeiae is known to have two faint optical companions, designated components B and C, respectively. “B” is located about 2 seconds of arc away, and has an apparent visual magnitude of 11, while “C” is located only about one second of arc away, and has an apparent visual magnitude of 13. Zeta Cassiopeiae Kappa Cassiopeiae. Navi is the third brightest star and makes up the center of the W. It is a variable star with a magnitude of between 1.6 and 3.0. 6 Cassiopeiae A is a white A2.5 type hypergiant. It is about 25 times as massive as the Sun and 200,000 times as luminous. The star is slightly and erratically variable, an Alpha Cygni variable. 6 Cas A has a number of close companions, most notably an 8th magnitude O class bright giant at only 1.5'.

noun

Gamma Cassiopeiae has a minimum magnitude of 3.0 and a maximum magnitude of 1.6, but is generally near magnitude 2.2, with unpredictable fades and brightenings. It is a spectroscopic binary, with an orbital period of 203.59 days and a companion with a calculated mass about the same as the Sun. Achird – η Cassiopeiae (Eta Cassiopeiae) Eta Cassiopeiae is the nearest star in Cassiopeia to our solar system, lying only 19.4 light years away. It is similar to the Sun; a yellow-white G-class hydrogen fusing dwarf, slightly cooler than the Sun with a surface temperature of 5730 Kelvin. It has an apparent magnitude of 3.45.

A W-shaped constellation in the Northern Hemisphere near Andromeda and Cepheus.
(Greek mythology) Proud wife of Cepheus and mother of Andromeda, queen of Eritrea. When she boasted that her beauty was equal to that of the Nereids, she was punished by Poseidon.

Abstract

6 Cassiopeiae

Propagation of discrete absorption components along the broad wind profiles of H and Fe II has been observed for the first time for a white hypergiant (6 Cas A2.5 Ia-0). CCD-echelle spectrometers of 6-m and 1-m telescopes of SAO RAS were used. The motion of the discrete components was traced for a period of 200 days in the 50 to 180 km s−1 interval of expansion velocity. The observed phenomenon is similar to that described for P Cygni. Corraboration of pulsations of 6 Cas has been obtained.
