Who left Strictly tonight?
The Strictly Come Dancing line-up for 2020 is now down to just four couples, who will all perform multiple dances in an effort to impress the judges – but most importantly, viewers at home.
Strictly Come Dancing returned for its eighteenth series with a launch show on 17 October 2020 on BBC One, with the live shows starting on 24 October. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series launched a month later than usual and ran for nine weeks instead of thirteen. This weekend on strictly is the Halloween special! Last night was a spooktacular evening of dancing, and we can’t wait for all the results tonight! Tonight the dancers have kicked things off with an intoxicating routine to Britney Spears – ‘Toxic’ song!
Following last night’s show, the judges’ scores and the public’s votes were combined and it was up to presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman to reveal the bottom two.
One by one, couples were saved but in the end, the couples with the lowest points were former American football player Jason Bell and his partner Luba Mushtuk, and ex-professional boxer Nicola Adams and her partner Katya Jones.
This meant both competitors had to perform their movie-themed dances again for the judges’ vote.
Once more, fans got to watch Nicola and Katya dance the Jive to Greased Lightnin’ and Jason and Luba’s Paso Doble to the Star Wars theme tune.
After they performed for the second time, it was up to judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood to decide who stayed in the competition.
The decision was unanimous as all three of the judges agreed to keep Nicola, therefore sending Jason home.
Jason Bell is the second celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing 2020 after former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith was sent home last week.
When asked about his time on the show, Jason said: “It was an opportunity of a lifetime. I had so much fun, thank you Luba.
“You have worked so hard with me, you’re a great friend for life and I appreciate all that you’ve done, I really do. I’ve had such a good time here. “Everybody is wonderful. I mean really this is amazing – this is a brilliant place! “This is the best group of people ever, this is amazing.”
Luba also had some heartfelt words for her celebrity dance partner.

Judge Motsi Mabuse returned from her two weeks in isolation just in time to see HRVY shoot back up to the top of the leaderboard with full marks for his impressive Couple’s Choice performance with partner Karen Hauer.
He was closely trailed by Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez who once again dazzled the judges with a beautiful quickstep, ending up with a near-perfect score of 29.
At the other end of the leaderboard sat Clara Amfo and Aljaz Skorjanec who were given just 19 points thanks to a series of noticeable mistakes in their jive. Bill Bailey, Ranvir Singh and Jamie Laing each earned a score of 24.

After both celebs performed their dances again, the judges made different decisions on who should stay for the first time this series.
Deciding to back Clara and Aljaz, Craig Revel Horwood said: “My goodness it’s a really difficult one, both couples I thought were absolutely incredible and danced with so much passion and love.”
Motsi, on the other hand, chose to save Jamie and Karen and declared it the “toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make”. “based on that dance off only I saw one couple that did their choreography and had all the steps correct and I saw another couple who had a mistake in the steps and in the timing,” she added.

They had conviction from step to step, they believed in their performance and therefore I’m going to save Jamie and Karen,” she said.
Shirley’s decision marked the end of Clara’s Strictly journey. “I’ve had the best time ever, the best time ever and got a new friend for life. I’ve loved it, its one of the best things I’ve ever ever done, its been a dream come true,” she said when asked by presenter Tess Daley how she’d found her time on the show.
Aljaz also had kind words to say about his dancing parter, saying: “First I’m really gutted. All I really want to tell you is I’m so happy we got to do Lady Clamalade, the Claraston, which I’ve never done before in my life, the Clarasambafo you are a dream to be around, you’re a beautiful girl inside out, I hope that people at home got to see that. This series has been so special and its only because of you, thank you so much. I’m going to miss dancing with you.”
